So Lucky...

Thank you so much to everyone who kept us in your thoughts and prayers over the last couple weeks.  We are so lucky to have such supportive, thoughtful family and friends!  Gran was more than just a Grandma to me, and losing her is more like losing a best friend.  We knew she had terminal cancer, but just 3 weeks ago I was taking her to her doctor's appointment where she decided she wanted to start chemo so she could add more time to her life.  Although I knew the time would come that we would have to say goodbye, I never would have guessed it would have been just 10 days later.  Sometimes I wish she and I hadn't been so close, because it would make losing her a little easier, but there is no way I would trade all of the memories I am so lucky to have had with her.  She was definitely a one-of-a-kind who can't be replaced.  She lived 9 years without my Grandpa and I know she missed him every day, so I find comfort knowing they are together again watching over us.  Gran taught me so much, but there is one thing that I have learned from her that I will never forget.  That is, no matter where your life leads you, no matter how hard things can get or how many obstacles come your way, if you work hard, keep the faith, be honest, do your best to live a respectful life, and most importantly never give up, you can overcome anything.  Gran didn't have an easy life, but she lived life to the fullest until the very end.  I may not have inherited her ability to "tell it like it is", but hopefully she left me some of her strength and determination! I am so lucky to have had her in my life and now we will make sure our kids know who she was and how much she loved everything they did!

Happy Halloween!

This was the first year Parker was old enough to Trick-or-Treat, and he did great (for a little while)!  He was Dr. Boley for the evening and was living it up!  We were handing out candy at the office, so we needed to stick close, but we got to go to the bank across the street from the office and Riverview Financial next door.  We made it to two stops before Parker had enough and we needed to get home to cook supper for the hunters.  We didn't know until later that night that Parker caught a bad virus and was sick for the next few days, which wasn't helping his patience! Hopefully we get to do a little more next year and get to go to North English too!
